Kids' Corner Information

Hours

Reservations are required for Kids' Corner. If there are no reservations in the system during the hours listed above, then Kids' Corner will not be open.

 

  • Monday-Thursday: 8 - 11 a.m.; 5 - 7 p.m.
  • Friday: 8 - 10 a.m.
  • Saturday: 9 - 11 a.m.
  • Sunday: Closed

 

In order to ensure that we have enough staff to safely care for your children, Kids' Corner registration will close at 3 p.m. the night before for all morning timeslots, and 7 a.m. the day of for all evening timeslots. View the General tab for more information.

General

Our Kids' Corner child watch service is available for members and non-members during their visit to the YMCA. Parents/guardians must remain on-site at the Y as Kids' Corner is not a drop-in child care service.

Areas

  • Infant: Ages 6 week-15 months
  • Toddler: Ages 16 months-2 years
  • Preschool/school-age: Ages 3-11 years

Reservations

  • Reservations are required for Kids' Corner and can be made below. If there are no reservations in the system, then Kids' Corner will not be open.
  • Reservations can be made up to one week in advance.
  • Maximum of 2 hours per child per day.
  • To ensure that we have enough staff to safely care for your children, childcare reservations will close at 3 p.m. the day before for all morning timeslots, and 7 a.m. the day of for all evening timeslots.
  • We can only accept late reservations if we have enough staff.
    • There is a $5 fee per child to register after the deadline.
    • Late reservations can be requested by emailing kidscorner@winonaymca.org or by calling 507-454-1520 ext. 109.
  • If you are running more than 15 minutes late, please call Child Watch at 507-454-1520 ext. 109. and let us know you are still coming.
  • If you are unable to come in for your reservation, please cancel by emailing kidscorner@winonaymca.org or by calling 507-454-1520 ext. 109. A $5 per child fee will apply if you do not cancel your reservation. See the Cancellation Policy tab for full details.

Fees & Eligibility

Winona Family YMCA Family Memberships

  • The child(ren) that are listed on a family membership are allowed a maximum of 2 free hours of care per child per day in Kids' Corner.

Winona Family YMCA Adult Memberships

  • A $5 per child per day fee will apply if you have a Winona Family YMCA Adult Membership.

Non-Members/Guest Passes/Nationwide Access

  • Free with the purchase of a $15 one-adult family day pass or a $20 two-adult family day pass.
  • Members visiting the Y with a guest pass or Nationwide Access are not eligible for free Kids'  Corner access. Those who wish to utilize Kids' Corner during their visit must purchase a family day pass.

Late Registration Fee

  • In order to ensure that we have enough staff to safely care for your children, Child Watch registration will close at 3 p.m. the night before for all morning timeslots, and 7 a.m. the day of for all evening timeslots. If we have enough staff, we can accommodate late registrations for a $5 per child late fee. View the General tab for more details.

No Show Fee

  • A $5 fee per child will be added to your account if you do not call or email to cancel your reservation. View our Cancellation & Late Pickup Policy tab for more details and instructions on how to cancel.

  • A $5 fee per child will be applied for families who pick up their child more than 10 minutes past their reservation time or who do not arrive before closing time.

Cancellation Policy

  • A $5 fee per child will be added to your account if you do not call or email to cancel your reservation.
  • You can cancel by emailing kidscorner@winonaymca.org or by calling 507-454-1520 ext 109.
  • Emails sent to individual staff accounts can not be accessed by the shift Lead. Cancellations emailed to an individual staff account are considered a no call/no show, with a $5 fee per child assessed.

  • A $5 fee per child will be applied for families who pick up their child more than 10 minutes past their reservation time or who do not arrive before closing time.

Parent/Guardian Information

  • Parents/guardians must remain on site while their child is in Kids' Corner.
  • Kids' Corner is not a drop-in child care service for parents/guardians to use for running errands.
  • Staff are not able to provide 1:1 care.

Check In/Out Procedures

  • To help reduce the number of people entering Kids' Corner, staff will greet each family at the Kids' Corner gate. The same exchange will occur at pick-up.
  • Upon arrival, Kids' Corner staff will greet you at the counter and check your child(ren) into Kids' Corner.
  • The person who drops the child(ren) off must be the same person to pick them up. If someone else is picking the child(ren) up, this must be communicated to the staff face-to-face at check-in and cannot be done over the phone.
    • Children can only be picked up by a pre-designated adult that is listed on their information card. 

Ready for Play

  • Please use hand sanitizer or wash your child's hands before entering Kids' Corner.
  • Please have your child in a clean diaper. We are NOT able to change diapers. Staff will contact you to come change your child's diaper if they need a diaper change before being picked up.
  • Please have your child use the restroom before dropping them off. If your child is in the process of potty training, staff are not able to help with personal care in the restroom and will contact you.
  • Please label all personal items, such as sippy cups and bottles. There are designated larger lockers for diaper bags.
  • Please do not bring any electronics from home, food, candy or gum into Kids' Corner. You are welcome to use the tables in the lobby before or after playing in Kids' Corner.
  • We do not pick up or carry children who can walk on their own.
  • Toys and equipment are cleaned after each session.

Behavior

  • We use redirection and positive reinforcement techniques in response to inappropriate behavior.
    • If, after 15 minutes, a child cannot be redirected and requires one-on-one staff supervision or poses a danger to themselves or others, the parent/guardian will be notified and the child will be asked to leave for the day.
  • Physical aggression, inappropriate language and disrespectful behavior are not accepted in Kids' Corner. Continuous negative behavior could result in taking a break from Kids' Corner or termination of Kids' Corner services.

Illness

  • Please be considerate to others by not bringing your child(ren) to Kids' Corner if they are ill.
    • Guidelines to follow would be a temperature more than 100 degrees, vomiting or diarrhea, or excessive coughing in the past 24 hours.
  • Please call and inform us if your child comes down with a communicable illness such as strep throat, pink eye, etc.

Our goal is to provide a safe and respectful environment for all of the children in our programs and spaces. We ask that you:

  • Treat everyone with respect, including children, staff, volunteers, members, and guests. 
  • Carefully choose the words you use around children. Refrain from loud and angry voices, rude, crude or threatening remarks. 
  • All concerns and/or complaints that cannot be dealt with by staff should be brought to the department supervisor and should not be addressed in front of the children. 
  • Be respectful of program staff and spaces by not joining the children or participating without staff permission.

Any deviation from the above will result in a warning. A meeting may be held with the concerned parties and appropriate staff. If the parent/guardian's inappropriate behavior continues or escalates, the parent/guardian and their child(ren) will be withdrawn from programming and YMCA services.
