Program Overview
This blended learning course prepares participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Participants complete online coursework before attending instructor-led classroom and in-water training. Upon successful completion, participants receive an American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certificate valid for two years.
Participants must be at least 15 years old and successfully complete the required swimming and water-skill prerequisites. Attendance at all scheduled class sessions is required to successfully complete the course.
